The Compulsory Registration Scheme operates under Scheme – II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. Within this scheme, Compulsory Registration Orders (CROs) issued by the Indian government typically encompass a diverse array of products, ranging from electrical appliances and electronic goods to automotive textiles, chemicals, photovoltaic products, and more.

In accordance with the order, it is prohibited for any individual to manufacture, store for sale, import, sell, or distribute goods that fail to adhere to the specified Indian standard outlined in the order. Manufacturers of these products must seek registration from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) after having their products tested by laboratories recognized by BIS.

This webinar will provide an overview of CRS Scheme, detailing its scope, obligations, and the regulatory pathway for obtaining the Registration Certificate from the BIS department.
